Overview
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of carpentry by making your own wooden cutting board from start to finish. You’ll get comfortable using essential tools and materials, gain practical skills you can use right away at home, and build confidence in your abilities. Professional carpenter Jérémie will share beginner-friendly tips, help you avoid common mistakes, and a dedicated Q&A where you can get advice tailored to your own projects.
What you’ll learn / do

Discovery of carpentry: from wood to finished product – you will make your own cutting board from start to finish

How to use tools (screwdrivers, jigsaw, sanding machine, tablesaw, …), materials (which screws for what, types of sanding paper, glue, …)

Leave with practical knowledge that you can use immediatly for a project at your home (making cutting board, shelf, …)

- Tips and tricks from a professional carpenter: how to prevent beginners’ frustration and mistakes!

This workshop is suitable for:
- Beginners with no prior experience who are eager to learn basic carpentry but may feel it’s inaccessible or lack confidence, and are looking to build trust in their abilities
- Men and women of all ages who are eager to learn and express themselves creatively
- Anyone who wants to build confidence in fundamental carpentry

About the facilitator

Jérémie D’huyvetter (48) is a Belgian carpenter, builder and landscap architect with a deep passion for nature and trees. He loves sharing his skills and knowledge, having mentored numerous apprentices in Belgium and led workshops to inspire others in woodworking. His work spans a wide range of projects, from furniture and tiny houses to gypsy wagons and land sculptures, reflecting his creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication to sustainable, hands-on design.
